Wakonda Grounds Internship Program
Description:
Established in 1922, the Wakonda Club is the longest standing private 18-hole club in Des Moines, Iowa. Positioned south of the downtown district the William Langford designed course sits on 140 Acres. The longest tees play 6,959 yards with pure A1/A4 bentgrass greens, Penncross bentgrass tees, and Penneagle bentgrass fairways. The large sloping fairways and quick greens make this golf course a true challenge. As the home of the PGA Champions Tour, Principal Charity Classic future turf professionals will be introduced to the preparations and organization of a PGA tour event. Interns will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and assistants on daily course operations and projects that take place throughout the season.

Equipment operations

This is a great opportunity for students with any level of experience to advance within the industry and build a network within the Midwest portion of the United States.

Position is available from April/May until August/September.

Qualifications:

No experience necessary
-
Enrolled in a 2 or 4 year turfgrass program
-
Desire to learn and advance within the industry

Ability to obtain chemical applicator's certification a plus, but not required
